Friendly Enemies
Published in Paperback by PublishAmerica (January, 2003)
Author: Victoria Taylor Murray
Average review score:

Midwest Book Review - this author has me hooked
Friendly Enemies picks up where Forbidden left off. Homicide Detective Gabe Baldwin is still protecting Nouri Sommers from someone who wants her dead. Despite his growing love for Nouri, Gabe is still fighting what he considers "forbidden fruit" - giving in to his desire for a woman loved by his best friend. The disappearance of her husband, murders at Lambert, and knowing she has been betrayed by husband, friends, and lovers takes a harsh toll on Nouri. She's beginning to see a pattern to her life and does not necessarily like what she sees. The author does a good job of portraying Nouri's crisis of understanding.

Her wealthy perverted husband is still missing. From all evidence, his wealth has been ill-gotten by associating with evil men around the world. Her best friend is plotting with a vicious killer to end Nouri's life. The man she thought was the love of her life - Clint Chamberlain - is cavorting with a sexy beauty in France despite his recent protestations of undying love and promises to stop playing the field. And the man she is beginning to love refuses to make love with her out of loyalty to his friend and fear that she will break his heart. It's a frightening and frustrating time for Nouri.

A few more loose ends are connected in Book Three of the Lambert Series. Nouri inches closer to what may possibly be genuine love. The devoted men in her life tolerate each other as "friendly enemies" to safeguard Nouri and her fortune. And readers are left wondering what the clincher will be in the final chapter, Le Fin. Until then, Ms. Murray keeps us all hanging, waiting for answers and wondering at the outcome. Friendly Enemies is recommended for mature readers due to sexual situations.

"A Real Character Connection"
By the time the reader reaches the third book in this writer's Lambert series (Friendly Enemies) the fun story line and sharp character development have been so vividly described at this point the reader actually begins to feel a real connection to the heroine almost as though the reader is now a real part of the story! I love this series!

LOVING IT!
I am so loving this writer's Lambert series! What fun I am having trying to connect the dots and piece things together from book-to-book. If it isn't one thing then it is another to keep the reader guessing chapter after chapter. Something to please everyone is contained in this fun series! If you haven't had a chance to check one of Ms. Murray's books out "Friendly Enemies" is a great book to start with! Loved it!

MORE PLEASE!!!
I do not want this series to end! I really love the Lambert series and would love for it to go on for another few books. The island where every wish is granted and every dreamed fulfilled has stolen my heart and I don't want it to be over yet. My four trips to the pretend island paradise of Lambert is the best vacation I have had the chance to go on in years! PLEASE BRING IT BACK TO LIFE AGAIN SOON!!! Fans like me need books like Ms. Murray's Lambert series to get me through the days and even sometimes through the nights.

What a way to end a series!
Wow! I could not believe the way the Lambert series ended! I am like most of the readers that have posted a review of this series and I completely agree with them, I was shocked at the ending! I would have never dreamed - not in a zillion years - to where the final visit to this writer's island paradise would take me, or maybe I should say take Gabe and Nouri!!! I too would like for Ms. Murray to take this series a step or three farther!!! I have become such a Lambert Lover! If you have not taken the time to read this fantasy series you owe yourself the pleasure! Fun fantasy!

Satisfication Guaranteed!
Get cozy, pour yourself a nice cup of hot tea, or a glass of your favorite wine, and get ready to be thoroughly entertained! Start this book early because I guarantee you won't want to put it down until after you have finished the last satisfying page. Le Fin, the ending book in the Lambert series was anything but boring or predictable, an ending I never expected or was prepared for, an ending that I am still thinking about, an ending that left me wanting more of this writer's fantasy series. Too bad it has come to an end. I will miss Ms. Murray's colorful cast of Lambert characters!

My Garden Visits
Published in Paperback by Clove Publications, Inc. (April, 1996)
Authors: Justin Matott and Victoria Kwasinski
Average review score:

A poignant journey into the garden of love.
In My Garden Visits, author Justin Matott masterfully intertwines the magic of being a child with the experience of adulthood.

In his parent's garden, Justin learned to love and to laugh. In his own, many years later, he learned to listen. And listen he did as his mother's soft vioce transcended reality to whisper in his ear.

"My mother would often observe me from her kitchen window as she went about preparing one of her magnificent gourmet dinners. I remember that I would pretend not to notice that she was watching me and I would show off to entertain her."

This heartfelt journey takes the reader to a place deep in the soul where the garden is always blooming, and a mother's love is never far. To plant a garden is to believe in miracles...to read My Garden Visits is to experience them first hand. A beautiful book with exquisite drawings...I would not hesitate to recommend it.

"A truly insipirational book that has touched my heart"
"My Garden Visits" is absolutely beautifully written. The illustrations by Victoria Kwasinski are brilliantly portrayed throughout the book. JM has expressed his childhood linked to the present through flowers. Flowers exquisitely chosen to dipict his cherished memories. I find the Authors' portrayal of his visits in his garden with his mother to be inspiring, and define the loving bond between them, a bond to be envied, and admired. One can only imagine the nurturing care given by the Author as he plants and sows his beautiful gardens. Gardens planted with boundless elegance, carefully planned with the complete understanding, so generously inherited from his father. It's easy to imagine each memory as it unfolds, to see the brilliant flowers, and realize thier fragrances, giving hope that the last page will take foever in making it's presence known. I find Vignette IV, Aquilegia, to be my favorite place to revisit, as I do quite often. This chapter truly captures a mothers love and devotion. As I give my mother and my daughters each a copy of "My Garden Visits" they too will know this book is written from the heart, and will treasure it always, as I do. I anxiously await the next publication by Justin Matott, and thank him for his incredible forte in writing.

A visually and spiritually beautiful book.
This book was not meant to be devoured in a single, can't-put-it-down reading marathon. Rather, each chapter should be meticulously tended to and savored, just as its author meticulously tended his garden and savored each visit from the spiritual presence of his deceased mother. To make this book complete, the stunning watercolor illustrations by artist Victoria Kwasinski add the perfect visuals to Matott's descriptive prose.

My Garden Visits honors mothers everywhere and offers a reminder that those who are dear to us are often close in spirit, even when they are physically far away. This is truly a beautiful book.

The Seer and The Sword
I loved this book!!! It was one of those few books that could hold my attention for more than 50-100 pages. As I read this book I felt like I was part of it. I admired the characters as if they were real people [for example I admired Princess Torina for her quick logic, strength, kindness, and the she didn't get a bloated head from being a princess] and felt for them in there time of need, for the villains I shared the characters loathing for them, for the hero and heroine thought out this book we became friends. I read and read and read barley aware that I was turning pages until I got to the end it was if this story was coming from my soul and not from typed pages. I recommend this book to anyone that will listen and guarantee that if you are like me searching for a good book that your search is over. The time flew by as I was engrossed in this wonderful book. When I was done I checked the clock and it was nearly 2:00 and the whole time I read I hardly felt any kind of sleepiness.

The plot was exciting just when you thought you knew what was going to know what would happen next Victoria Hanley would surprise you with a new twist. Belladrana the quiet artistic kingdom is being invaded by Princess Torina's country, Landen the prince of Belladrana has no idea what will happen if his country is defeated.

Awesome And Intricate Plot
I'm writing this after rereading the Seer and the Sword for the 5th time. This book is one of my all-time favorites. The best part is definitely the plot.(Just so you know what I'm doing, I'll use the first letter of their name to identify a person.)

After Torina's father defeats a neighboring kingdom, and brings home the prince, Landen, as a slave, T sets him free and he begins learning to fight in the barracks. T's father also gives her a crystal ball which he brought from L's kingdom as spoils of war. T and L become friends over the years as T learns she can see the past, present, and even future in her crystal. Then tragedy strikes. T's betrothed, Vesputo, murders T's father. L must run away because he is thought to be the culprit and T (who saw it happen)is imprisoned in her rooms by V. T escapes (I won't tell you how)to the kingdom of Desante. Over time she becomes an informer of King Dahmis, high king of Glavenrell. Meanwhile, L is also in Desante, under the name of Bellanes. He becomes the ringleader of a band of criminals under the command of King Ardesen, King of Desante.
Now that's not the end of the story - there are plenty of other twists. But I can't tell you any more, so if you want to find out if Landen and Torina ever reunite, or if Landen or Torina ever recover their kingdoms, you'll just have to buy the book and find out. But, believe me, it's an awesome book, it has an intricate plot, and it's full of action. It's a great book for teens and adults. If you never read it, you're really missing something.

Another World: The 35th Anniversary Celebration

Authors: Julie Poll and Victoria Wyndham
Average review score:

I love you cast and crew AW ,I will never forget you.
I heard about it. NBC will cancel ANOTHER WORLD to make room for the new NBC soap Passions. I know in its past that AW has low ratings ,but I do hope they are making the right decision to cancel the nbc soap AW.I have laughed , cried with this soap and I'm sure I will never forget. Thank goodness Julie Poll has made this book for all of the Another World fans and I know she made books for the other Procter and Gamble soaps such ATWT and GL.I will love and not forget you guys at Another World!Like Lisa Peluso,Jensen Buchannin,Tom Eplin,Ellen Wheeler,Linda Dano,Matt Crane,Alice Barret,Kim Rhodes,Mark Pinter,Stephen Scharinazr,Charles Keaton,Anna Holbrek,I forgot her real name but her character is Donna,Amanda Cory,Josie,Gary,Jason, and the past people, and the longest castmember to stay with the show since 1972,Victoria Wydaham!

I can't wait to pick up this book. AW is the best soap on tv
I have been watching ANOTHER WORLD for over 10 years. I started watching when Anne Heche played Vicky/Marley. When she left I watched sporatically but in the last 2 years I have become hooked again. When I heard that NBC had cancelled it I was devastated. AW is such a wonderful show with incredible actors and great storylines. The fact that NBC would cancel AW when there was another soap on NBC with lower ratings makes me furious. Don't the fans count? Don't ratings count? I will never ever watch NBC again and I hope all AW fans do the same. There are several programs on NBC that I used to watch but they may as well cancel them too because I can not look at the NBC logo without feeling angry and betrayed. Good-bye NBC. FANS OF ANOTHER WORLD PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP. HOPEFULLY ANOTHER NETWORK WILL DECIDE TO AIR ANOTHER WORLD. WRITE CBS OR ABC. LET'S SAVE AW. IT'S THE BEST SHOW ON TV AND IT DESERVES 35 MORE YEARS ON TELEVISION

Thanks, Ms. Poll for a deserving tribute
I just purchased the book and like many cannot wait to receive it. Thanks to Julie for taking the time to give Another World's biggest fans such a tribute to this show's rich history in both words and pictures along with accounts of some of its stars and crew and their most poignant moments. It is also very sad that NBC has made the decision to cancel this show. I am 33 years old and can remember AW since I was a tot. I remember the spin-off's such as Somerset and Texas and all of the wonderful characters that came into our lives. Some of whom are long gone and others who are still a part of the show. My sincerest thanks to all of whom have been a part of this show from the producers, writers, technical staff, wardrobe, make-up, and hairstylists, to the actors who have brought characters to life that viewers have loved and loved to loathe. To the decision makers at NBC, you all just do not get it, however you will. Most daytime viewers stuck with NBC because of Another World despite what your ratings indicate. Passions will not receive any of my time and with the pathetic direction that Days of Our Lives continues to take, I assure you it will not be hard to remove it from my life. So, good luck to your daytime programming organization because you will need it.

Mistress of Mellyn
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Ballantine Publishing Group (January, 1988)
Author: Victoria Holt
Average review score:

THE gothic romance classic!
I first read this book in 8th grade, at a summer camp. I've lost count of how many times I've read it thus far; but I'm reading it right now and I'm 42 years old!

As others have said, this is a timeless classic that relies on a gripping story and excellent characters to hold the reader, rather than the sleazy sex scenes that fill many modern-day romance novels. I believe I have read all of Victoria Holt's books over the years (She has also written as Jean Plaidy and Phillipa Carr) and yes, they are somewhat formulaic, but they are always a good, satisfying read.

"Mistress of Mellyn" inspired my interest in all things English, from afternoon tea to English history. It vividly creates a world that completely draws you in, right up to the last page.

Still Fresh After All These Years
This is really dating me because this is the first romance novel I ever read. I read it when it was published about 35 years ago--but then I was rather young at the time--so to speak.

I thought it was one of the most wonderful books I had ever read, but then I was a young teenager. The world of romance was opened to me by this book, and I shall never forget it even though I have moved on to other types of books and away from romances per se.

Besides being a romance, it is a mystery with a surprise ending, which lends itself to being compared to Jane Eyre and Rebecca. This novel, though not a classic, is refreshing still in the 21st century.

Martha Leigh has come to Mellyn to care for Connan Tremellyn's difficult daughter, Alvean. In the process of caring for her, Martha falls under the spell of the home, Mellyn and its many secrets--the main secret being was the former Mrs. Tremellyn murdered, and if so by whom. As she searches for answers, she falls under Connan's spell while still frightened he may have murdered his wife.

This books is still as delightful today as it was many years ago.

My First Victoria Holt Book & Still My Favorite
Set during the 1800s in Cornwall, England, "Mistress of Mellyn" follows a 24-year-old woman's (Martha Leigh) adventure as a governess in a haunted mansion owned by the widowered Connan TreMellyn and his young daughter, Alvean. While struggling with her emotions over Connan and his just-as-difficult daughter, Martha must also try and uncover the mysterious death of his wife before she, too, faces the same fate Alice did.

"Mistress of Mellyn" was the first book I ever read by Victoria Holt, and it also happens to be the first book Eleanor Alice Burford Hibbert wrote under this pseudonym over 40 years ago. It was given to me by one of my aunts when I was about 11 and is still one of my favorites, even though I'm not necessarily a romance fan. But if you are--or even if you're just a reluctant gothic romance reader like I am--, then you'll more than likely enjoy this one. There's nothing offensive or racy in it, so it's appropriate for all ages, yet it's still very suspenseful. Highly recommended.

Forbidden, is the next book in the Lambert series. It is also a book that pulled me in to this romantic suspense series for the longhaul. It has everything a reader like myself enjoys in it, action, romance, and mystery. I can't wait for the next book (Friendly Enemies) in this series to arrive.

Forbidden prepares the reader for new characters to soon enter the comples storylines connecting the last two books of The Lambert Series. I can hardy wait!

Temptation
Published in Paperback by Professional Business (March, 1998)
Authors: Victoria Christopher Murray and Victoria Christopher Murray
Average review score:

Inspiring....
Temptation is an extraordinary story of love, faith, friendship, betrayal, and forgiveness. It tells the story of Kyla and Jefferson Blake, their picture-perfect 16-year marriage, and their commitment to one another and also to God. Jefferson makes the mistake of sleeping with Kyla's best friend, Jasmine, showing that Christians are also faced with real trials and tribulations. The lessons of the story are illustrated in how the characters overcame this event-dealing with the issues of trust, betrayal, love, redemption, and forgiveness. The strength, belief in God, and the ability to act according to His wishes (despite desiring to do otherwise) is inspiring. This novel moved well and was paced just right.

The supporting cast of characters was balancing: Alexis and Brian both dear friends of Kyla and Jefferson begin a relationship together based on Christian values and go through their own temptations and issues, and Jasmine, the seductress, is relentless in her pursuit of Jefferson.

Murray sprinkles bible scriptures and words of love and faith to share the source of wisdom and power. It is a delightful, easy read that isn't "preachy" or condemning...in fact, I think it renews the inner spirit. This is a definite must read for Christian couples or anyone needing another's forgiveness.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.
Five stars is not enough to rate this book. I give this book an absolute 10. I have never read a book so inspiring, so wonderful, so full of everything that your looking for in a book. It's a page turner from beginning to end. I love the way the author quoted scriptures, that in fact helped to encourage and up lift me. Very inspirational. I just can't rave anymore about this book. This is by far one of the best books I have ever read in my life. I love the way Victor Christopher Murray made you feel Kyla and Jefferson's pain, their sorrow, their joys, their happiness. I mean she really made you feel what each character was going through. She just could not have done a better job. Oh and Brian and Alexis, Couldn't have happened to a better couple. I thank God for blessing Ms. Murray with such enormous talent. Truly his hand was in this. Victoria Christopher Murray, continue looking to the hills from whence cometh your help and know that he will do the rest. I will definetly be looking forward to reading more of her work. I would recommend this book to all. You won't be dissapointed.

INTRIGUING
This book is truly a must read! It is so difficult to believe that this is the first book written by Victoria Christopher Murray. I totally agree with previous reviewers. The book held my interest from the beginning to the very end. This is exactly the kind of reading material for which I've been looking. Victoria does an excellent job of showing that Christians are also faced with real trials and tribulations, however, the beauty of this book is laid out through the actions taken by characters who have decided to do things God's way no matter the consequence(s). I was so blessed by Jefferson's determination to tell the truth and trust God to work a bad decision for good, in the face of loosing everything, including his wife, his daughter and his reputation. Then there's Alexis, who as a single sucessful young woman, has made a commitment to God and honors it more than the newly found relationship with the man of her dreams. This book definitely encourages one to stand firm on God's word and just watch Him grant the disires of the heart in His own perfect timing.

I was so caught up in the lives of the characters of the book, I dared to put it down. I must have read this book in record time. Bravo, Victoria! I'm looking forward to you next work!
